Getting Started With the Card Deck Editor

This page explains how to open a deck, enter a deck name, edit spreadsheet columns and rows, and bring external sheet data into the Card Deck Editor.

Open a deck and save the first draft

Open the Card Deck Editor from the deck list or from a draft route. The page loads the editor workspace with the current deck name, spreadsheet, preview area, and editor actions. If the deck is still an untitled draft, press the save action to open the first-save dialog.

In the save dialog, enter values in the Card deck name input and the Short card deck description field, then click Save Card Deck. This saves the current draft as a named deck project.

Use the spreadsheet area

  1. Use the spreadsheet grid to edit existing cells directly.
  2. Add rows with the row actions when you need more cards.
  3. Add a column when you need a new card field.
  4. Rename a column to change the field name used by the deck.
  5. Remove columns or rows through the editor actions when they are no longer needed.

The spreadsheet is the place where deck data is created and maintained. Every row is one card, and every column is one field that can later be connected in the Template Field Link panel.

Import CSV or Excel files

The editor includes separate import actions for CSV files and Excel files. Use the CSV import action to load comma-separated sheet data. Use the Excel import action to load spreadsheet data from a workbook file.

After the file is loaded, review the resulting columns and rows inside the spreadsheet grid. If the imported data needs changes, edit the cells directly or use the column actions to rename fields.

Use save, undo, and redo

Use Save Card Deck to persist current changes. The workspace also exposes Undo and Redo actions for spreadsheet changes when those actions are available.

After saving, the last-saved status in the workspace updates to reflect the current deck save state.
